My Hadithi is a family book website that helps raise readers with illustrated books online. We write our own books and group them by CBE level so families can pick a shelf that fits. They are not official school textbooks. Parents and caregivers create an account (including Google sign-in) to unlock books on a personal bookshelf, with optional reading plans and secure checkout.
When you sign in (including with Google), we store your account profile (name and email), reading activity, unlocked books, subscription status, and payment references needed to complete checkout. If you pay with M-Pesa we may store the phone number used for the charge. Invite cookies remember a friend's link until you create an account. See our cookie policy.
We use this information to run your account, show books you have unlocked, take payment, send service emails (receipts, sign-in links, account notices), and keep the service secure. Email, name, and payment details are needed to complete a purchase. If you do not provide them, we cannot finish checkout or keep your bookshelf.
Payment partners (Paystack and Safaricom M-Pesa) receive what they need to process a charge. If you use Google sign-in, Google shares basic profile information with us. We do not sell your personal information.
We restrict staff access, encrypt connections to the site, and store passwords in hashed form when you set one. Payment card details are handled by Paystack, not stored on our servers.
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@myhadithi.com. You can also close your account from account settings. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya.
If you close your account, we deactivate it after email confirmation and keep a 30-day recovery window (with a reminder before permanent deletion). After that window, we delete your profile, bookshelf unlocks, and reading plan. We retain payment and transaction records needed for finance, tax, disputes, and support, which may include the email or phone associated with a charge. Payment partners may keep their own records.
My Hadithi is designed for families. Account creation and purchases are intended for parents and caregivers. We do not run child accounts, and we do not collect children's photos or other personal details from children.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares basic profile information with us according to your Google account settings. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles your data.
